Questions people ask
How do I use a word correctly in a sentence?
Check three things: the meaning (does the sense match what you want to say?), the part of speech (is it a noun, verb or adjective, and are you using it that way?), and the collocations (the words it usually travels with, like “make a decision” rather than “do a decision”). The sentence checker tests all three.
Where do the example sentences come from?
For the 180 words in our lists, sentences were written and checked by our editors. Dictionary examples come from Wiktionary via the Free Dictionary API. The generator writes fresh sentences with an AI model, so read them critically, especially for rare words.
Can I pick sentences for a child’s reading level?
Yes. Choose “Kids” and the generator uses simple vocabulary and everyday situations; “Students” uses school, reading and science contexts.
Is it OK to copy these sentences into homework?
Use them as models, then write your own. Teachers ask for your own sentence because producing a word is what makes it stick.
